A82 Pulpit Rock improvement scheme where a road slippage had constrained the road to a single lane for 30 years.

Realignment and widening of 400m of the A82 adjacent to Loch Lomond, works included a six-span 175m long ‘s’ shaped viaduct over the shore of Loch Lomond, and 200m of 30m high slope rock cut and stabilisation.

The scheme removed a ‘bottleneck’ for traffic around a tight headland on the main trunk road from Glasgow to the West of Scotland and the Scottish Highlands.

The road remained open throughout the works with a single lane operation under traffic light control.
