Earlier this month, we were delighted to sponsor Barking Riverside’s festival – Emerging East.
With an estimated 1,780 attending, the festival offered visitors a schedule of activities running from 11am through to 8.30 pm. Including markets, live music and fantastic street food experiences.
We were thrilled to sponsor the series of free environmental workshops, “What if nature built cities?” and “When the river meets the sky”. As well as “Indeedy Musical Bingo on a Boat” which was also held on a stationary Uber Boat by Thames Clippers vessel at the pier.
We installed the pedestrian pier and pontoon as part of our works at the new Barking Riverside development.
We also installed two pontoon guide piles, as well as two additional mooring piles alongside the pontoon.
The pontoon, canting brow and bankseat were fabricated by Ravestien at their facility in Holland.
Once completed, the pontoon and 65m link span bridge were loaded onto a transport crane barge for the North Sea crossing and further transit up the Thames. We then positioned the crane barge alongside the structure, and each element lifted into position where it was fixed in place.
Thereafter, we completed the installation of services, ballasting, testing and commissioning.
Following the completion of the pontoon and jetty, we undertook fencing and landscaping works.
We also carried out the installation of the pedestrian / cycle path.
Emerge East has been a huge success and was our biggest event to date allowing people to experience this unique Riverside environment, as well as the brand new public square and the amazing potential it has to host all sorts of activities from markets to music to fantastic street food experiences. The event also created an opportunity for several entrepreneurial residents to participate in an Emerging Makers and Food Producers Market especially curated by HemingwayDesign, an agency specialised in delivering high quality festivals across the UK.
