McLaughlin & Harvey support Wolverhampton charity and college

Date Posted 13.03.25

McLaughlin & Harvey have teamed up with City of Wolverhampton College to support local charity Compton Care.

As the main contractor appointed by City of Wolverhampton Council for the new City Learning Quarter campus in the city centre, we are sponsoring the college’s football teams’ kits which will feature the logos of both Compton Care and McLaughlin & Harvey.

The three-way partnership kicked-off today, Thursday 13 March, at the pan-disability football festival at the college’s Wellington Road campus, in Bilston. The festival will see players from seven local colleges take part in the competition, with representatives from McLaughlin & Harvey and Compton Care among the spectators cheering for the Wolverhampton squad.

Shane Greer, Senior Project Manager at McLaughlin & Harvey, said:

“It is a pleasure to sponsor the new football kits for City of Wolverhampton College.

“We actively support local communities and are dedicated to helping build futures. In addition to our role as the main contractor for the new City Learning Quarter Campus, this partnership provides a wonderful opportunity for us to demonstrate our support.”

Emily Thompson, Community and Events Manager at Compton Care, added:

“We are incredibly honoured to have our logo featured on the college’s football shirts.

“For over 40 years, Compton Care has been a lifeline for people in our local communities, providing specialist palliative and end of life care, as well as vital support for their loved ones. While our care is free to those who need it, it is not free to provide, and we simply couldn’t do what we do without the generosity of our community.

“Our heartfelt thanks go to the staff and students at the college for choosing to support Compton, and to McLaughlin & Harvey for making this opportunity possible. We wish the teams the very best of luck for the season.”

McLaughlin and Harvey approached the college regarding sponsorship as part of its Responsible Business scheme, keen to give a local organisation the opportunity to add its branding to the kits alongside its own.

College staff were asked to vote for which charity should appear on players’ football shirts, with Compton Care – which provides specialist palliative and bereavement support for local people living with a life-limiting condition – named as the overall winner.
