Specialist, world-leading IDRM medical research building.
Construction of a specialist, world-leading Institute of Development & Regenerative Medicine (IDRM) medical research building and ancillary plant/support building to accommodate scientists and support staff for the University of Oxford.
The 64,583 sqft three-storey ‘IMS-Tetsuya Nakamura Building’ includes laboratory and write-up spaces for each of the three research departments. As well as shared meeting and seminar rooms, and specialist ancillary labs for life sciences research.
The state-of-the-art research facility brings together three themes of expertise, cardiology, neurology and immunology, to develop treatments for degenerative diseases of development and ageing, including heart disease, stroke and primary immune deficiencies. The project provides prime space to recruit new research leaders, promote multidisciplinary expertise and build strong collaborations with other world-leading institutes.
The surrounding buildings are particularly sensitive, including the adjacent Innovation Building which houses laboratories for the BioEscalator and Novo Nordisk Research Centre Oxford which could not be disrupted while our works were ongoing.
