We recently held a Meet the Buyer event, in partnership with City of Wolverhampton Council and City of Wolverhampton College, to engage with the local supply chain for the upcoming City Learning Quarter project.
As well as learning more about McLaughlin & Harvey’s tendering and construction processes from key members of the project team, attendees were also able to hear more about the City Learning Quarter scheme and the benefits it will bring to the local community.
The City Learning Quarter has been developed by the Council in partnership with the College to deliver a purpose-built learning facility for young people and adults at the heart of the city centre to drive up skill levels. McLaughlin & Harvey was appointed as the preferred construction partner at the end of last year.
We’re projecting that there is going to be over 45,000 people who will benefit from the City Learning Quarter… Bilston has a high unemployment rate, and (the scheme provides) opportunity and aspiration for the future generations.
Cllr Stephen Simkins
Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for City Economy at City of Wolverhampton Council
The key benefit (of the scheme) is enabling both staff and students to operate in a brand-new state-of-the-art facility, moving out of the tired environment of Paget Road, giving learners a more accessible environment.
Daniel Harris
Head of Facilities & Procurement at City of Wolverhampton College
We bring a vast amount of experience to the project… so I believe that we’ll be delivering a successful project and it will be very much appreciated by the City of Wolverhampton and the College.
